AM I GOING TO HEAVEN?

How can I know I am saved forever?

The most important question in all the world is where am I going to go when I die? Where will I spend eternity?

The majority of people who have ever lived probably haven't considered this, or perhaps they have but they did not pursue a firm answer which can bring unmeasurable peace.

The Bible has the answer to this question, and you can be assured of your final destination by the time you finish reading this:

ABC’s of salvation

Acknowledge that you are a sinner. (Rom. 3:23)

Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ as your personal Savior from sins. (John 6:47, Acts 16:30-31, 1 Cor. 15:3-4, Eph. 1:12-14)

Confirm in the Word of God that you have eternal life. (John 3:15-16, 1 John 5:9-13

Further Detail:

1) The Bible says every human being is born with a sin nature. (Rom. 3:23 – “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God”)

Sin simply means “missing the mark.” We have all missed the mark of God’s perfection. We fall short of the perfect Glory of God as the verse above states. If you are honest, you can admit in your mind you are not perfect. You fall short of a Perfect God.

2) The Bible says because we have sinned (even 1 sin), we have earned God’s Judgment. God is perfect and Holy; and Heaven is perfect and Holy. Therefore, a person must be perfect to enter into Heaven. God must judge sin and remove it because He is Holy and Perfect. If a person was to pay for their sin on their own, they would have to physically die and spend an eternity in Hell because the Bible says that is the payment for sin. (Rom. 6:23 – “For the wages of sin is death...”). Death in the Bible always means separation. When the physical body dies, the soul and spirit are separated from it. This is the first death. The second death is eternity in Hell (Rev. 20:14, 21:8). The second death is the eternal judgment from God for sin. A person only born once (physically) will die twice (physically and spiritually – spiritually separated from God for all eternity in Hell). However, a person born twice (born physically into this world and born twice spiritually by trusting in Christ alone as Savior will only die once – leaving this physical world and entering into God’s presence in Heaven). The born-again believer will never experience the second death (Rev 2:11 - Note: an "overcomer" in the referenced verse is a born-again believer / a saved individual - see 1 John 5:4-5).

3) The Bible presents the way to enter into Heaven. Jesus Christ is the only way to Heaven (John 14:6, Acts 4:12, 10:43). God in His infinite love for mankind came into this world in the person of Jesus Christ. Jesus is the Son of God and God the Son. Jesus lived a perfect, sinless life. He fulfilled God’s requirements (perfection) to enter into Heaven. When Jesus shed His blood and died on the Cross of Calvary thousands of years ago, He was making the payment for all mankind’s sins. God poured out His wrath and judgment on mankind’s sins in Christ. Jesus Christ was punished in our place. He paid the sin debt that we owe to God in order to enter Heaven. Jesus is our substitute sacrifice. (2 Cor. 5:21 – “For he (God) hath made him (Jesus) to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him). Jesus offers salvation/eternal life in Heaven to the whole world, but one must receive it personally by faith in His substitute sacrifice for their sins. Trust in Jesus Christ as the complete payment for your sins. He shed His sinless blood, died, and rose again to prove He conquered Hell, death, and the grave. He satisfied God the Father. Will His payment satisfy you? Trust in Him.

4) Jesus is the Savior of the world. We all need a Savior from our sins because we fall short of God’s perfection. When we place our trust in Jesus Christ as our personal Savior, we are saved. Every person living must make this decision for themselves. No one can do this for you. (John 6:47 – Jesus says, “Verily, verily, (Truthfully, Truthfully) I say unto you, He that believeth (trusts) on me has everlasting life.”). Jesus saves everyone when they simply put their personal trust in Him to save them from their sins (all sins – past, present, and future sins).

5) The moment you place your faith in Jesus Christ to save you; He saves you for all eternity. You don’t look for a feeling to occur when you believe the Gospel (Jesus died and rose again to pay your sin debt). You have more assurance than a feeling. You have God’s written Word on it. You never need to question this salvation transaction again in the future. God does not give temporary life or probation life; He only gives eternal life. You have been passed from spiritual death unto spiritual life. (John 5:24 – Jesus says, “Verily, verily, (truthfully, truthfully) I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, has everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.”). You are no longer condemned (judged) in your sins as this verse says, but instead you have now been passed from death unto life by your faith in what Christ did for you. The Bible says you can KNOW that you are saved forever. (1 John 5:13 – “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.”) Don’t doubt God’s Word or you risk calling Him a liar (1 John 5:10). God says it, you believe it, that settles it. You have the authority of God’s Word on your salvation, so don’t allow mankind to put doubts in your head.

Simply trust in Jesus Christ today and be saved. Rest in that faith (Matt. 11:28). God cannot lie and His Word will never change (Tit. 1:2, Psa. 119:89). God knows your heart when you have believed in His Son Jesus for your salvation.
